Lottery scratchcard winner in shock after realising expected £250k windfall paid EVERY YEAR until 2029

Simon Rushtage, 47, will not quit his job despite saying "it’s like having a job with a £250,000 salary, but not actually going into work"

A scratchcard winner was overjoyed when he scooped what he thought was a £250,000 jackpot.

But Simon Rushtage, 47, had a shock in store - the prize was £250k A YEAR until 2029.

After Camelot confirmed his win totalling £3.75million, the rugby league fan said he will use the cash to buy a new car and get a season ticket to watch his beloved Warrington Wolves.

Simon said: “I just bought it after visiting my dad - I scratched it immediately in the store.

“I genuinely couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had to pass it to the shop assistant who confirmed I had won £250,000.

“I was absolutely delighted - things like this just don’t happen to people like me.

“This is just the best prize ever - it’s like having a job with a £250,000 salary, but not actually going into work."

However he has no plans to quit his job as a stock handler.

“I am going to take my time over what I do and how I spend the money - I certainly have no plans to give up work at the present time," he added.

“It is such a lovely way to receive the money - it provides me with security and reassurance for years to come.”

It is the second time this year that luck has struck at Simon’s workplace, Norbert Dentressangle, after a syndicate of workers scooped a £1.7m Lotto jackpot in January.
